The spirit of 29 finds its cinematic pulse in Timité Bassori’s 1969 Ivorian masterpiece, La femme au couteau (The Woman with the Knife).
Towards the film’s end, a woman asks, “Are you sure I exist? And that I will always exist for you?” He answers simply: “Yes, all my life.”
That exchange became a quiet question at the heart of 29. The true questions we wanted to ask through the garments are: Will you return to them years from now? Will they carry the memory of a person, a place, a night, or a former version of yourself? Have we made clothes that, with time, become mementos?
29 is clothing made to accumulate meaning through time a wardrobe of pieces to be preserved, rediscovered and loved again.
